Video: Magherafelt’s Rainey Endowed will ‘fear nobody’ in Ulster Schools’ Cup

Rainey Endowed School’s 1st XV will “fear nobody” going into the Danske Bank Schools’ Cup.

Team Captain Calvin Smyth said the squad has been training hard and were now looking forward to the competition getting underway.

Rainey’s first taste of the action will be against Down High School.

The fixture is scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 24.

With at least four players out with injuries, Smyth said it will be tough but there was a positive attitude in the squad which was encouraging.

“Being realistic we would be delighted to progress to the quarter finals,” he said.

Head coach Chris Campbell, who was on the Rainey side which won the Schools’ Cup back in 1982, said the team has a great ethos and attitude to training that will stand them in good stead.
