The opening round was staged last Wednesday evening on the difficult Lurgan Road, Dromore course in benign conditions and Kevin came out on top, six seconds ahead of John McAuley, visiting from VC Iveagh.

The Quinn Cup is a ten mile handicap time trial and a total of 18 riders signed on including two visitors.

With the better weather, times for most riders were significantly better than two weeks earlier when rain and wind hampered efforts on the same course.

Once again, Kevin was fastest actual time on the night with his 24.41 just pipping the two visitors John McAuley (24.47) and Simon Keery from Apollo (24.57). The second fastest Banbridge CC rider was Dan Purdy (25.18) while Adrian Finnegan (25.38) fought hard for a well deserved third place.

First place on handicap time was Charlie Glover.

Once again, the riders gratefully acknowledge the role of the enthusiastic band of marshals and timekeepers who turn up week after week to facilitate these events. It is much appreciated.

Next week sees a return to road racing at the Quarry Road circuit with the first round of the Mourne Observer Cup series.
