Vote of confidence for Mid-Antrim Zone officials

Mid Antrim Zone recently held its AGM at Michelin Athletic Club.

A review of the zone’s affairs for the season was conducted with various reports received from the Secretary, Treasurer and Zone Convenor.

The main business of the evening centred on the election of office bearers.

There were no changes to any of the posts with Tom Morrison (1st Ahoghill) re-elected to the top position as Zone Convenor.

Assisting Tom will be Jim Sands (Muckamore Community Centre) as Treasurer and Richard Rodgers (BPFA) Secretary / PRO.

The other office bearers were elected as follows: Competition Secretary: Graham Maybin (1st Ahoghill). Assistant Competition Secretary: Helen Maybin (1st Ahoghill). Child Protection Officer: David Steele (Michelin).

Team Selectors (ladies): Roberta Morrison (1st Ahoghill). Pearl Peacock (Cullybackey Methodist). Ann Agnew (St Patrick’s Ballymena).

Team Selectors (Men’s): Tom Lithco (Michelin). David Morrison (1st Ahoghill). Doran Turtle (BPFA).

Junior Zone Team: Doran and Linda Turtle (BPFA), Darren McCullough (Antrim IBC).

The draw for next season’s inter zone competitions has already taken place. The ladies face the long trip to Fermanagh to play Western, whilst the men have been drawn at home to one of the competition favourites, Armagh.

One significant rule change has been introduced by the IIBA for the 2014/15 season concerning licensed tournaments which stipulates that in pairs, triples and rinks players can only enter and play tournaments with players from the same zone.
