The Junior Interprovincial hockey tournament takes place in Dublin this weekend and Carrick Ladies will have a keen interest in the outcome with their talented striker Christine Waide featuring in the Ulster line-up.

The Women’s Junior Interpros is contested between Ulster, Leinster, South East (a sub-division of Leinster), Munster and Connaught. With four games in two days, it is a tough and demanding schedule and the Ulster Women’s squad have been preparing hard over the past few weeks.

The majority of the Ulster squad play their club hockey in either the UHU’s Senior 1 or Junior 1 leagues. But with Carrick Ladies still campaigning in Senior 2, Christine Waide’s continuing presence in the squad, as the sole representative from Senior Two, is a significant endorsement of her outstanding skills.

“I’ve campaigned for Ulster a number of times previously,” said Christine, “and I always enjoy being part of the Interpro squad. There’s clearly a lot to be learnt from my fellow team-mates and our opponents, all of which has served me well at Carrick Ladies. It will be particularly nice going into this tournament with such a successful season behind me at Carrick and I’d certainly love to add to that by coming back from Dublin as part of a winning Ulster squad.”
