Walker calls for improvement for Whites trip

ROY Walker has demanded an improvement from his Ballymena United side as they attempt to make further strides up the Carling Premiership table this week.

The Sky Blues put their five-match unbeaten run on the line tonight (Tuesday) as they travel to Lisburn Distillery - ironically the last team to defeat the Sky Blues at the start of October.

United remain in sixth place in the table, but a win at Ballyskeagh could potentially see them rise to third position, depending on other results in tonight's programme.

"The incentive is to beat Distillery and go ahead of them but according to results, you could beat them and move two or three places," said Walker.

"I felt in the game with the Whites here, we didn't get what we deserved that night like we didn't get what we deserved against Glenavon last Saturday, in a completely different manner."

Walker admits he could scarcely believe what he was seeing on Saturday as United scored twice in the dying minutes to snatch a completely unwarranted point.

"I don't want the players to feel good about the point. I want them to feel disappointed but at the same time we have to stay in the real world - we're still very much a work in progress.

"Our fans are certainly getting entertainment value - not maybe the way they would like it. There might well be copious amounts of Rennies being consumed for the indigestion we cause!"

"For me, the bonus is that we came through the four home games unbeaten and in them, we've scored 12 goals, so there are pluses to take from it and things to be worked on.

"I would think, all things being equal, there will be change of sorts to the team at Distillery.

"Mark Surgenor had treatment after an ankle injury at training on Thursday and we couldn't take a chance on him against Glenavon.

"It's ligament damage but keeping him out on Saturday might mean he's OK for Tuesday night," added Roy.

Seven Towers Supporters' Club transport for tonight's game leaves Henry Street car park at 6.45pm and from the same venue at 2pm for Saturday's trip to Cliftonville.
