The Donaghadee girls had turned round one up, but a more focussed home performance in the second half at Ballyclare High School grounds ensured the 2-1 victory.

The ‘Dee girls who opened the scoring against the run of play before Parkview forced several penalty corners. However, the Kathy Morrison - Clare McClean - Singleton combination failed to get a result, while Sharon Gaffney in goal at the opposite end had an easy time.

Parkview drew level after an hour, when another penalty corner resulted in Wallace firing into the net.

Moments later the hosts were ahead when Wallace and McClean linked with Singleton, who dribbled down the back line past a couple of defenders before rattling the backboard from the narrowest of angles.

In the dying seconds only a superb tackle and clearance by left-back Lauren Brady prevented the visitors salvaging a point.

Girl of the Game: Nicola Singleton, centre-forward.

“For the first time this season we had a full panel available, and if we can keep these girls together we should climb up the table,” said Clare McClean.
