Ballymena celebrated its sporting stars of the past year in style tonight.

The 18th annual Ballymena Sports Awards - the first since the creation of the new Mid and East Antrim Council - took place in the Des Allen Suite at the Showgrounds.

Winners of the various awards were:

Junior Sportsperson of the Year - Katie Morrow (wheelchair basketball)

School Sporting Performance - St Louis Grammar School (hurling)

Sportsperson/team with a Disability - Katie Morrow (wheelchair basketball)

Manager/Coach of the Year - Gary Marshall (equestrian)

Veterans’ award - Brigid Quinn (athletics)

Team of the Year - Ballymena & Antrim Athletics Club U-13 boys 4x100m (athletics)

Services to Sport - Davy King (football)

Sportsperson of the Year - Steven Donnelly (boxing)

Sporting Hall of Fame - Michael O’Neill (football)
