The draw had been made the day before with 47 pairs entered and an impressive 46 pairs turned up on the night so it was going to be very competitive.

The eventual winners Conrad Watson and Sean McKinney for the second year in a row proved the best on the night in a late and tense final and proved how good they are as individuals and together combined very high scoring and sharp on the doubles.

This was in fact Conrad Watson’s third Pairs Cup win in the last three years winning it in 2012 partnered with Paul Brown and now Sean McKinney in 2013 and 2014 and continues to show how class a darts player he is at the oche.

The league would like to congratulate both Conrad and Sean the Pairs champions for 2014 on there achievement who were on fire all night and clinched the title from Seans 115 checkout.

Huge credit must go to the runners up Mark Thompson and John Moore who shot into a two nil lead in the final and could have been 3-0 up were it not for a great 171 from Conrad to set Sean up for the double which he duly hit to get back in the game

And to be fair it changed the game and got them throwing to the levels they can.

Mark and John threw great darts all night and should be proud of there effort and in semis hit back to back 180s in a tight game which brought them into the final.

They going forward should play in pairs competitions together cause they brought there individual talents together and had some high scores and good checkouts all night.

Credit also to beaten semi-finalists Sean Logue and Steven Doherty who got to the last four last year showing there consistency and also to Happy Landing pairing Jim Brown and Ryan McKinney who almost made the final and proved themselves as a good pairing as good darts players they are.

The league would like to thank the high number of pairs who turned up on the night and also Eglinton CC and there good staff who made it a successful and enjoyable night for all.

The Eglinton & District Darts League would like to wish all our players and pub owners a Happy New Year and they return to action on Thursday January 8.
