Waveney suffer disputed narrow defeat

WAVENEY Youth FC played Castleview for the second successive week, this time in a league match at the Showgrounds.

Determined to avenge last week's scoreline the home team started well but on 25 minutes, against the run of play, the visitors took the lead when they broke down the left to shoot low into the net.

As Waveney chased an equaliser there was controversy with 10 minutes left when Ryan Stewart turned and shot, the keeper parried the ball out and Jordan Stewart appeared to bundle the ball over the line.

The Castleview defender kicked the ball out of the net and the referee adjudged that the ball had not crossed the line. The visitors survived this piece of good fortune and hung on for the final whistle.

This week Waveney travel to the Valley to play Ballyclare Colts in a must win game if they are to progress in the Plate competition.
