'We are not the big, bad wolves' - Millar

LARNE FC boss Paul Millar feels it is wrong that his club is being pilloried as the big bad wolf after Saturday's pitch brawl at Newry Showgrounds.

The Larne manager insists Newry City are equally to blame for the mini-riot that even pushed First Minister Peter Robinson et al out of the limelight, although he admits he didn't see too much of the violence as he was being escorted towards the tunnel at the time, after being shown the red card for complaining about a refereeing decision.

"We had a board meeting on Sunday and issued a statement in which we rightly unequivocally condemned the violence and then their chairman came on the radio on Monday morning and praised his players, which seems to be branding Larne as the only culprits," said Millar.

"The photographs seem to suggest that most of the violent actions were perpetrated by Larne players, but it's a simple matter of fact that some of the Newry players were also guilty of misdemeanours."
