'We deserved the win' insists Taylor

PORTSTEWART boss Gary Taylor was a happy man following his side's win over Knockbreda on Saturday.

Brian Tosh’s goal separated the sides, and Taylor was happy with the display.

“The last time we played Knockbreda they bullied us, but we stood up to them this time, and we got the win.

“The game was hampered with a lot of bad tackles and unfortunately we had our captain Alan Gaston send off.

“He reacted to a bad challenge and was shown a straight red, but to be honest I think a yellow card would have been fairer.”

The Portstewart boss hit out at his side last week for not taking their chances, but that wasn’t the case this week: “We had all the chances last week and didn’t take them, but that wasn’t the case this week, we had three chances on goal and we took one of them. To be honest we deserved the win.”

He singled out James Peden and Craig Ramsey for praise on the day, describing them as ‘excellent’.

Portstewart face Killymoon Rangers this Saturday, and Taylor is hoping for revenge.

“The last time we met, they beat us 2-1, they play on a plastic pitch, so I’m not sure how it’ll suit us,” admitted Taylor.

“I think only a few of our players have played on this type of pitch before, so I hope we can come away happy again this Saturday with three points, “joked Gary.
