The Blues take on managerless Donegal Celtic at Donegal Celtic Park on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) before hosting Carrick Rangers a week later.

Celtic were plunged into chaos last week after manager Paddy Kelly, the club’s entire committee and a number of coaches resigned from the club. The mass exodus of those in charge of the club is believed to have came after a dispute arose between the football club and the social club and Kelly has since turned down attempts to reinstate him as the club’s manager.

Rumours were rife that the club would not be able to fulfil Tuesday evening’s Irish Cup Fifth Round replay against Institute but the game went ahead and the club are now preparing to take on Glenavon on Saturday afternoon.

Remaining coach Steve Hawkins has taken over temporary charge of the club, backed up by central defender Declan O’Hara.

Glenavon boss Hamilton is not betting on the situation weakening his side’s opponents and says they could actually be stronger in this weekend’s game.

“It can work both ways,” he said.

“Hawkins and Declan O’Hara have taken over there for now and sometimes in situations like that they can get the boys rallying round them and bring them together.

“All we can do is go up there and worry about our own performance and try and get the three points.

“It’s a massive game but they all are. Every game that we play is massive and we’ll be going out to get three points on Saturday like we do every other week. The next two games especially are massive but on our day we know that we can take points from any team in the league. We need to prove that through our performances and pick up three points on Saturday.

“It’s important to beat the teams around you and we’ll be keen to do that on Saturday against DC. We need to pick up a few wins in our next few games against the teams who are in the bottom six with us.”

Meanwhile, new signing John Convery could make his Glenavon debut as Jonny Magee will be out for up to six weeks with a torn hamstring.
