The popular singles stableford event was scheduled to open last weekend following continued sponsorship support from the Astons, Delia and Stephen.

Players can enter via the Pro Shop for the Clubworld Travel New Year Tournament.

The seven-week qualifying schedule will lead into a fortnight of singles matchplay.

Matthew Lavery picked up the Player Of The Year prize during Saturday’s Winter League celebration.

Highlights across his memorable season included the handicap reduction from 9.6 to 6.3 and run of five wins.

He collected the Thursday Stableford with 41 points then finished first across the PGA Pro-Am Qualifier courtesy of nett 64.

He lined up alongside Paul Stevenson - the club professional - at the UK final in Gleneagles. They finished fourth overall.

The Saturday Stableford victory was wrapped up on 42 points alongside the Fullerton Cup thanks to nett 62.

His Thursday Open Stableford win arrived on July 23 with 44 points.

Lavery was also runner-up across the Scratch Matchplay.

The awards night also resulted in presentations to Ian Lamb and Andrew Poole.

Lamb picked up the Montgomery Rosebowl as the top individual across 10 weeks of Richardson’s Meats-sponsored Winter League scoring.

The team prize went to Poole as captain of the Gerry Brown Memorial Trophy-winning panel.

Players can take part across the 10-hole stableford Christmas Cup tomorrow (Saturday).
