Weather plays havoc with weekend sporting programme

The wet weather of the past few days has played havoc with this weekend’s sporting programme in Ballymena.

The recent wet weather has played havoc with local clubs' fixture lists.

Despite an improvement in conditions on Friday a number of fixtures on Ballymena Borough Council-owned pitches have been postponed due to being waterlogged.

Venues affected at this stage include all grass pitches at Ballymena Showgrounds, Dunfane, Waveney, Ballykeel, Clough, Kells and Cullybackey.

Further inspections for matches scheduled for Saturday morning will take place, if required, at a number of other venues including Wakehurst, Galgorm and Ahoghill.

However, all fixtures scheduled for the Showgrounds 3g and hockey on the astroturf pitch are expected to go ahead as planned.
