'Wee Ants' march on

BERTIE Peacock Under 13's travelled to Dungannon on Saturday for a tough league encounter.

This was a match that Bertie's needed to win to sustain their challenge for league honours.

The match started with Bertie's playing into a strong wind, however this did not stop the away side from playing some crisp open football.

Constant pressure resulted in a number of corners. Law was unlucky not to open the scoring from a good Edgar cross from one of these corners.

From this clearance, the ball went deep inside the Peacock half. Indecision between the defence and the keeper resulted in Dungannon taking the lead with their first shot.

The hard work of the Coleraine youngsters finally paid off when Mitchell found the net. Bertie’s pushed for a winner and they were rewarded when Edgar scored from a corner kick.

Edgar got a second soon after when he headed home a Law corner, leaving the score 3-1 to the Coleraine side.

Well done to the boys against a side who had only been beaten once prior to this match.

This Saturday, the under13’s entertain Crumlin at Coleraine University at 11am.
