Week off for Wheelers

WITH the holiday season now upon us the Wheelers have taken a week off.

However despite the lack of racing last week the training did not stop.

This week is another round of the road racing with the course being three laps of Katesbridge via the Diamond, Ballyroney, Moneyslane and Katesbridge.

Although there should be a good turnout there are still riders on holidays. For the Wheelers M Alexander, J Kernghan, J Adair and P Wilkinson are the riders in form in road racing, but there are plenty of other riders capable of taking a win. It all depends on who is there on the night.

Next week takes the Wheelers back up to Warrenpoint for a 10 mile TT for the Poppy McKeown Memorial. This course has proving to be popular with the riders as theres a chance of a PB giving good conditions on the night.

But as what has happened in the past it can be very windy up there even if its calm down here.

Race secretary Clive Adamson says that it's hard to take in but the racing is only six or seven races from the end of season as the first week in September brings it to an end so it will be over before you know it.

A few weeks ago 12 riders from the Wheelers did a lap of Lough Neagh with riders averaging 90 to 110 miles depending on were they live. Everyone enjoyed it so much that another run is planned in the next few weeks when the club gets a Saturday to suit everyone as some more Wheelers want to go.

Would all members please let Billy know if they are available to help out at the open race in August. The club needs all the help they can get so plan to do your bit and not leave it to the same members again to do it all.

Order forms for new club clothing will be available in the next few weeks so start now and decide want you want.
