We've Scott to bounce back!

GARETH Scott was understandably disappointed with his side's surprise home defeat to Armagh City on Saturday - but issued a rallying call to his charges to bounce back to winning ways this weekend.

Scott had spoken in last week's Times on the importance of maintaining the standards his players had set since he arrived against Armagh.

But the visitors upset the form book to record a 3-1 victory against Glebe who were reduced to 10 men in the first half.

"I'm bitterly disappointed we didn't get anything out of the game," Scott told Times Sport.

"But that shows just how far we have come in a short space of time and the fact we are so disappointed with our performance.

"The very, very high standards we set ourselves in terms to workrate and discipline slipped a bit.

"We have high expectations going into every game we play which is how it should be.

"On Saturday there were aspects of our game I wasn't entirely happy with.

"I thought we could have started sharper."

Glebe's task wasn't made any easier when Graeme Taylor was given his marching orders mid-way through the first half.

"It will be a learning experience for a very young player," said Scott.

"Going down to ten men seemed to give us the kick start we needed and the workrate went back to the standards we expect at Glebe Rangers."

However Armagh struck twice to put them 2-0 ahead in the latter stages.

A goal by Glebe talisman Trevor Parkhill - who is to be named Championship 1 Player of the Month today - gave them hope.

But as Glebe piled forward Armagh snatched a third to take all three points.

Scott said: "On the day there were certainly a few lessons we can learn from.

"A few errors were made but having said that I was more than happy with how we fought and how we responded to going a man down.

"In football you are always going to have ups and downs but it's how you respond to those downs.

"When I came here the club was down but we fought back.

"We have a very, very tough game away to Banbridge Town this Saturday.

"But I fully expect - with a full week's preparation - we will be ready to dig out a result."

Regarding Parkhill's accolade, Scott said: "It is thoroughly deserved and another visual indicator of how much the group has progressed.

"It is great news for Glebe Rangers and great news for Trevor Parkhill."

A bus to the game will be leaving the Manor Hotel at 11am on Saturday.
