Wheelers support Paul’s Australian marathon

ON Sunday 19 August, adventurers and long-distance cyclists in the making Paul Quinn of the Island Wheelers, and companion Aidan Murphy are hosting a farewell fund raising charity cycle and fun run/walk in support of their arduous cycle to Australia next month in aid of The Irish Cancer Society and The Alzheimer’s Society.

Sign on for the event will take place from 10.30am at Hayden’s Bar, Rock, with two routes available; a 30 mile route for those out for a leisure ride, and a challenging 60 mile route for the more experienced cyclist. There will also be a 5 mile fun run/walk if cycling isn’t your thing.
The event will be fully supported with a sweeper vehicle, mechanic, and water stops. On return to Hayden’s Bar there will also be an array of food and refreshments.
There is a minimum donation of £10 required, and everyone who signs up on the day will be put in a draw to win a number of fantastic prizes including; a helicopter ride, two Manchester United tickets for the coming season, and a number of cycling vouchers! All money raised will go to two great charities; The Irish Cancer Society, and The Alzheimer’s Society.

After the event, Paul and Aidan will have only but a few more weeks left in the country before they set off on their travels.  On September 1, the two men will depart Ireland on one epic cycle to the land down under to raise money for The Irish Cancer Society, and The Alzheimer’s Society. Their journey will take them through 18 countries and over 15,000km before they reach Australia seven months later.
