‘Wheelie’ good result, says Gary

EAST Tyrone Cycling Club was represented in force at the weekend’s Carn Wheelers classic, with members taking part in the fourth, third, second and first categories.

Alan Gilkinson made a surge on the last lap of the fourt category+ race only to get swamped at the line, but the day belonged once again to Gary Jeffers in the 1/2nd cat race.

Less than 20 A1/A2 riders signed up for the new 56 mile tough Carn Wheelers course, and with gale force winds all day made the racing extremely challenging.

Gary, left, made a break for it on the first lap and was ably supported by team mate Noel Wilson holding using race tactics in the peloton. Gary went on to stay away on the break all day sprinting to the line to take the win.

This once again is a remarkable achievement for Gary, not only for him to be riding at the absolute highest level but to be winning time and time again.

Gary will be in action again this Thursday (April 18) in ETCC’s first club race of the season.

Harvey Barnes made it two wins in as many weeks as he won the U14 race at North Down - well done Harvey keep it up.
