White and McCullough star for Ballyclare High against Grosvenor

The Ballyclare 3rd XI secured a 0-0 draw against a Grosvenor team more at home on the gravel surface.

Some first-half pressure saw several shots creep just wide of the post, with one on target from Hannah White that was well saved by the Grosvenor ‘keeper.

Ballyclare’s play improved in the second half as they adapted to the surface and everyone was working harder to make tackles. More shots on goal were accrued as a result, but Grosvenor had also upped their game, forcing the defence to work hard and Courtney Crawford to make some good saves in the Ballyclare goal.

Although the match remained scoreless at the final whistle, everyone finished the game well and managed some cohesive play for a team relatively new to one another. Hannah White was named ‘Player of the Match’ for her hard work in midfield.

The U14A team produced a resounding 4-0 win over Grosvenor, with all four goals coming in the second half. Rebecca McCullough scored the first, with Hannah Masson slotting in a second, and Ballyclare were now full of confidence. Ellen McIlvenny then pushed in a third, before the last of several corners enabled McCullough to force an own goal for the fourth. The well-deserved ‘Player of the Match’ was Rebecca McCullough.

Both the U14B and U13B teams secured solid 2-0 wins, while the U13A team produced a very convincing 4-1 win to round off another successful weekend.
