Wilkinson wins Dervock Road Race

BANN Wheelers riders Mark Wilkinson, James Thompson, Stephen Logan and Colm McIlfatrick travelled to Dervock last Saturday to compete in the Dervock Twenty Mile Road Race, which is part of the civic week within the village.

The race was handicapped into two groups, however the scratch group caught the first group midway through the race.

Six riders came to the line together, with Bann Wheelers rider Mark Wilkinson powering to victory from the experienced Nat Magee.

James Thompson and Stephen Logan produced solid rides to take third and seventh respectively.

Sean impresses at Time Trial League

Coleraine man Sean Kealey produced an excellent ride at the Dave Kane TT League ten-mile TT last Thursday night on the Woodgreen Course just outside Ballymena.

Conditions were good for the testers and Sean seized the opportunity to record an excellent time of 20.43 to finish 4th overall in the event.

This was a personal best time for Sean, which also fulfilled his main objective of the season, which was to go under twenty one minutes for the distance.

The winner of the event was Conor Mc Allister of the Ballymena Road Club, who recorded a time of 19.54, second was Bann Wheelers associate member John Madden in 20.23. Ballycastle man, Dominic Drumm also produced an excellent ride to record a season’s best time of 22.39.

Richard wins fourth round of TT league

The Bann Wheelers Cycling Club held the fourth round of the Handicap TT League on the Ballybogy Road last Tuesday night the winner of the event was newcomer to the sport Richard Baker who recorded a time of 27.29, Ashley Moore was second and another newcomer Derek Mc Menemy was Third.

Fastest rider on the night was Ballymoney man Jason Henry who recorded a time of 23.09, second was Robert Kennedy in an impressive time of 23.32, Portrush man Sharman Crawford continues to deliver fast times taking third in 23.49, James Mullan of Roe Valley CC was fourth in 24.05. Mark Wilkinson’s form continues to improve with a time of 24.37.

Ashley Moore was sixth overall with an impressive ride of 24.45, Big Nigel Kerr also produced an excellent ride fast time of 26.16, closely followed by Paul Boyle in 26.38. Club stalwart, Sammy Greer produced another fast ride passing the timekeeper in 27.19, Richard Baker was 27.29 and Big Jack Hutchinson recorded a time of 31.12. Again everyone at the club would like to thank timekeeper Ian Nevin and the marshals for ensuring a safe event.
