William lifts Victory Cup at Royal Portrush

THE 36 hole Victory Trophy was played for over the Dunluce and Valley links of Royal Portrush Golf Club on Saturday.

William Bamber came out on top with a net score of 138 from his handicap mark of four.

William carded a 72 over the Dunluce course including an eagle three at the second hole.

His score on the Valley of 74 included an ugly four over par eight at the seventeenth which made it a close run thing with Dr I Kerr.

The good doctor returned a net 139, just a shot behind, including a sprinkling of birdies. A double bogie 6 at the fourth on the Dunluce course and four consecutive bogies on the back nine of the Valley proved expensive.

On the Dulnuce course the best gross went to James Stevenson for his 73 off 1 and the best net to TP Turner (18) for his 70.

At the Valley the gross prize was taken by John Turner for his 68 and the best net went to Daniel McAleese for his 64 off his three handicap
