Slane started off the brightest and had the home side defending well but the telling ball was elusive.

They were 1-0 down on the quarter hour when they were caught out on the break by the speedy winger who crossed to the near post and the centre forward slammed the ball home from close range.

Half an hour in the home side were awarded a penalty which was hammered wide of Bickerstaff and into the corner of the net.

Slane had chances from Sterritt, Bingham and Niblock but they went wide or over.

The visitors were quick of the mark in the second half and scored when Sterritt shook of his marker and lobbed the keeper from an acute angle.

The home side stretched their lead with a well taken goal on the hour but Slane were getting back into the game and Glen Moffett headed home a corner at the back post.

Slane pushed more men forward and were getting caught at the back with the speed of the strikers who were a real handful.

Anderson cleared off the line and Bickerstaff pulled off a good save. Bingham and Sterritt had shots well saved and Rowan headed over the bar.

Davenport had a snap shot well held by the keeper but with four minutes left on the clock Straine hit Slane for the decisive goal to finish off worthy winners.

Overall the speed of the front men eluded Slane on the day who need to pick themselves up for the next league game. Best on the day for Slane was Neil Wilson at the back.
