Win keeps Threes in contention

A youthful Coleraine Threes traveled to Instonians on Friday looking to keep the pressure on at the top of Junior 7.

From the off Coleraine played some great hockey with Anna Torrens and Alice Reid providing great width and attacking force! The midfield duo of Emma Wallace and Ellie Legge were dominating the game with some superb passing hockey. Midway through the half striker Hannah McAdam fired a superb strike into the bottom corner to take the lead!

Instonians bounced back and had some good pressure of their own, the defence of Fiona Cully, Stephanie Forsythe and Amy McCormick held firm, but ‘keeper McMullan was on hand with a couple of good saves when Instonians increased the pressure!

The second half started with more of the same from Coleraine. Lucy McDonald and Emily Caskey working hard to keep Coleraine on the front foot. Pearl McCartney was now dominating the defence and dictating play and it wasn’t long before the pressure paid off, a great move was finished off at the back post by Rachel Johnston to make it 2-0.

Shortly after Emily Caskey was unlucky not too add a third when the ball was just out of reach with the ‘keeper beaten.

Hannah McAdam was showing great skills around the circle and a neat lay off from Caskey enabled her to finish superbly to make it 3-0! Player of the match went to Ellie Legge for a dominant midfield display. The result keeps the girls right on the tails of the league leaders.
