Win puts Ballymoney back on top

Ballymoney’s win, on the back of a thumping 7-0 victory over North Down at the weekend, leaves them a point ahead of Randalstown at the summit.

Champions Lurgan are well-placed though as they are just two points off the pace with a game in hand over Ballymoney and three fewer played than Town.

Lurgan have a swift chance to take over at the top as they travel to Edenvilla Park to take on derby rivals Portadown tonight while Queen’s travelling to Raphoe.

However, the picture could well change again tomorrow when Ballymoney host Banbridge at the Joey Dunlop Centre with Randasltown facing North Down and Dungannon playing Lisnagarvey.

In the EYHL, it could be win or bust for Pegasus as they face Loreto in Dublin, needing a point or preferably all three to cut the gap and keep in touch with the play-off places.

Loreto currently occupy the crucial fourth spot and, with a five point advantage over Pegasus, a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world for the Leinster side.

Ards will be hoping to pile more misery on bottom side Ulster Elks to keep their slim play-off chances alive following their heroics at the European Indoor Championship last weekend.

Caroline Adams’ side should have enough fresh legs in their squad as the likes of former internationals Tamara Macleod and Emma Reid didn’t make the trip to Lithuania.
