Winning end to season for champs Castle

THE league champions finished off their season on a high with a hard fought win over The Coach Inn on tuesday night and with it secured an undefeated season .

The Castle got off to the perfect start as Collie McSherry , Cecil Corbett and Paddy Mc Kivergan all rgistered wins, but back came The Coach with a bang as R Hunter, A Dean and M Miles all won their matches to level the game at 3-3.

The Castle then showed just why they are great champions as the final two players that they could call on were the Harper brothers which would make any team dread the finish.

The result was duely confirmed as both Jason and Richard took their frames to secure the points.

The Imperial also finished off an impressive season with two wins in a week as they also won their rearranged match with The Bus Bar by 5 -3.

In this match Ronnie Kerr and N Clydsdale gave the homr side an early lead. BJ McAnearney pulled a frame back for the visitors but that was as good as it got for The Anglers as The Imperial hit top form and finished the match off pretty quickly through S Kerr, I Wilson, P Buchanan, D Mc Creanor and D Lyttle.

Mulhollands secured third spot in the McLean Bookmakers First Division with a great win in this local derby match.

It did not look likely in the early stages as P McStraw and D Russell gave the away side a 2-0 lead, but Mulhollands hit top gear as Mark McCormick, Keith Jardine, Alan Currie and Mark Jardine all won their frames to give the home side a two frame lead.

A Murray pulled one back for The Market and set up a tense final frame and Sam Roe showed he was well up for the challenge and secured that vital two points for Mulhollands .

This mid table clash went the way of the home side and finished off a what if season for both sides.

T Beattie and D Lyness gave The Bus an early lead.

Colin Morton pulled one back for The Legion.

The Bus then won the next two frames through N McMurrin and P McClean which secured at least a point for the home side.

The Legion showed that they were not quite finished in this match as Richard Drafter and Nigel Totten both won their frames to bring it back to just one frame in it.

D McAlinden then showed he could hold his nerve and made sure of the points for the Bus.
