Winning streak continues

SUNNYSIDE under 15s kept their winning streak going with a 4-0 victory over Crusaders on Saturday.

Sunnyside were slow to start but looked dangerous on the counter attack with Tom Higgins, Connor McClure, Caolan McCauley and Alex Mackey all having chances.

There was no score in the first half and the Lurgan team made a few changes with Caolan Thompson coming on for Aaron Lambert. Danny Thompson moved into midfield from right back and Colum Toland went to the left hand side of midfield.

This seemed to have an immediate impact when three minutes into the half Tommy Turley delivered a great cross to Higgins whose first touch was excellent and he finished well.

Ten minutes later Colum Toland played a long ball from his own half which Higgins controlled but he was brought down in the box. Cameron McCartan slotted home the penalty.

Their third goal came when McClure saw a 20 yard strike rebound off the crossbar to Caolan Thompson who fired a low cross for Alex Mackey to score with a cheeky back heel. Sunnyside killed the game off five minutes from time when Adam Kelly, who came of the bench, showed a lot of composure to score a delightful chip over the keeper.

Special praise has to the back four of Turley, McCartan, McCann and Thompson who were outstanding and have been getting better and better every week.

Best on the day were Alex Mackey and Danny Thompson whose second half performance was different class.

This Saturday they play Lurgan Town and players are to meet at the Spar at 8.30am.
