Winter League finally completed

AFTER several weeks lost because of the weather the nine week Winter League was completed at the weekend at the Brown Trout.

The Captain’s Hawks team of S.Doherty,T.Boyd, D.Milliken, T.McCloskey and D.James led by D.Mulholland consisted of six players who turned out every week despite the weather (over the nine weeks they returned 50 cards out of a possible 54!).

They finished off winning week nine with 79 points, T.Boyd with the weekends best score of 40 points, enough to win the sweep, and Donal adding 39 good enough to take second prize on countback from M.Torrington.

This give them a winning team total of 689 points.

Ronnie Millikens team the Swans with J.O’Neill, W.Pyper, C.McConaghie and S.McKenna took second place with a team total of 674, finishing off the last week with 71 points scored by W.Pyper on 37 and C.McConaghie adding 36.

The Skylarks led by P.Kelly included J.Logue, R.Engall,M,Dempsey and G.Hamilton finished with 667 points.

The Ducks included J.Kelly,C.Dempsey, M.Torrington,T.Campbell, S.Reid and A.Smyton, finished with 666 points.

The Kingfishers team of R.Orr, N.Donald, T.McGowan,D.Wilson and T.Cupples made up the numbers finishing with a dismal 605 points!

The top five members received individual prizes as follows:

4th R.Engall 258 (av.36.8)

5th R Milliken 253 (av.35.8)

During the nine weeks a Mastercard was run with two different ringers counting each week (drawn before each round) this proved a very close affair with S.Doherty and R.Engall each returning 40 points. But these were just pipped by Club Captain Ronnie Milliken with a winning score of 41 points.
