Woods has the eye of the tiger in the Ferris Cup decider

Banbridge Academy U14s 1

Cookstown High School U14s 0

ACADEMY’S U14 found it a tough encounter against a strong and hard hitting Cookstown side.

But some superb defending by Matthew Warnock, Johnny McKee, Matthew Hurst and Shane Warren helped the locals to find the telling pass early in the game to feed the talented Luke Woods who fired home from top circle on the open side to put the Academy in the driving seat.

Some indifferent decisions put pressure on the play at times and Ferguson, Neville and Dillon–Burns all had to dig deep with Josh Edwards and Craig Kennedy covering great ground to keep Cookstown from throwing their destructive aerial attack.

The game ended with a fine block from Tom Brown in goal to give the school it’s fifth Ulster title in as many days! Final score 1-0 against Cookstown HS.

The squad, under Coach of the Year Mr Simon Jess, have made real strides of improvement and deserve great praise in their discipline and style of play.

Team: Tom Brown, Andrew Ferguson, Mark Campbell, Matthew Warnock , Andrew Sneddon, Clarke Neville, Matthew Hurst, Josh Edwards, Johnny McKee, Sam Farson, Bailey Dillon Burns, Shane Warren, Luke Woods, Matthew Moonan, Ben Knox, Craig Kennedy. Coach: Mr Simon Jess.
