World famous sports trophies on show at Bryson’s, Magherafelt

WHILE Ulster strive to get their hands on the biggest prize in club rugby, you can get a look at the Heineken Cup without going through Saracens this weekend at Bryson’s Bar in Magherafelt.

The famous trophy will be on show at the Union Road corner on Friday and Saturday night with 12-5pm on Saturday allotted for those with children to call in to get a photo.

“This is a proud moment for Bryson’s Bar,” said owner Peter Bryson. “To have this prestigious piece of silverware in Magherafelt is overwhelming. Not many people have had the chance to see it, never mind lift it.

“Bryson’s would be seen as the ‘rugby bar’ in town and so it is in keeping with that image to be able to show off the Heineken Cup here. To cap it off we will also have the Liam McCarthy Cup on view in the bar on Saturday.

“We are very sports orientated and sponsor a number of teams in the area: Rainey Old Boys Rugby, Rainey Hockey, Sky Blues FC, the O’Donovan Rossas, Spires Cycling and Sperrin Harriers. I would urge all of them to come down a get a look at these world famous trophies.

“There seems to be great interest already and thankfully it helps us consolidate our position as a great place for sports people to meet and interact - the go-to bar for sports in Magherafelt.”

During the time that the Heineken Cup is in Bryson’s Bar, there will be a fundraiser Macmillan Cancer Support while on Good Friday there will be a music quiz starting at 8pm.
