Worthington calls on young footballers to gear up for an exciting summer of fun

NORTHERN Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is calling on all budding young footballers to get ready for a summer full of football fun!

Nigel has given his backing to the Irish FA’s Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools Programme, which will run during July and August.

Co-ordinated by the Irish FA’s Grassroots Development Officers and staffed by qualified coaches the soccer schools are the ideal way to get your children active over the summer months. The Soccer Schools, which are for children aged from six years of age, will be run at venues across the country and will be attended by thousands of children.

“The Irish FA Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools provide boys and girls with an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and develop as players,” said Nigel. “The programme is a vital component in the Irish FA’s grassroots strategy and by introducing children to the game at an early age and providing them with a fun and positive experience will hopefully in turn generate an interest which will keep them involved in football for life.”

Encouraging budding young players from across the country to take part in this year’s programme, he added: “I would encourage all boys and girls to go along to their local Irish FA Nutty Krust Summer Soccer School. The coaches will help you improve all aspects of your game. To improve as a player it is important that you listen to the coaches on schemes like this, as they have the experience and knowledge on what is needed to make you a better player. And as well as learning new skills, you will also make new friends and have loads of fun playing football.”

Jonny Michael, Larne Grassroots Development Officer said: “We really encourage all parents to get their kids along to one of our Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools. The kids are guaranteed to learn new skills, meet new friends and most importantly have a great time.”
