Ian’s immediate family were at the event, wife Michelle and their three children Mia, Ella and young Ollie. The children are currently being looked after by family nearly four hours away at home in Coleraine.

Ian’s wife Michelle commented: “Thanks to everyone for all your kind messages and prayers, I am so overwhelmed by all your well wishes for Ian. He is stable at the minute but is very sick and it’s going to be a long recovery process for him. he had an operation on his back on Wednesday but thankfully he is stable, so from me, and all the kids and our family circle I just want you to keep praying hard for my husband, I can’t thank the medical team (doctor John and doctor Fred) as if it wasn’t for them it would be a different story.

Aileen Ferguson visited the family on Thursday bringing some good news from Dublin. “I am delighted to let you know that while visiting with Michelle in Beaumont Hospital Ian decided to wake up much to everyone’s delight. He recognised those present and was able to follow instructions from the medical personnel. Michelle would like to thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Thankfully he is going in the right direction so with a lot of help hopefully he will continue to do so.”

The facebook page set up by friends of the family to try and help with some of the costs involved with travelling between home and the hospital etc and to try and support them through this difficult time. To donate go to: https://www.youcaring.com/ian_morrell
