Young Dromore side are defeated at Carrick

Carrick U15 29 Dromore U15 5

With this being the first game for Dromore U15 this year, a young and quite small Dromore side came up against a lot bigger and older side in Carrick. From the start it was plain to see that Carrick were going to keep in tight and use their size to dominate Dromore.

With Carrick having most of the possession of the ball, some good last line tackling from Dromore was holding Carrick out eventually on 12 minutes Carrick’s No.8 broke two or three missed tackles to score under the posts.

As the half wore on some great tackling and pressure from David Little and Elliot Forbes helped ease the pressure on a tiring defence, with Elliot holding a Carrick player up over the line. Unfortunately Carrick’s pressure was still coming and they created an overlap on the right wing to score their 2nd try. On the stroke of half time Carrick were awarded penalty 5 metres out which they kept tight a drove over the line. At half time Carrick 17-0 up.

Straight from the kick off for the 2nd half Carrick’s No.8 picked up the ball to score under posts.

Dromore started to come into the game and were controlling it, with the backs starting to break lines and the forwards cleaning out rucks quicker. David Little found space and broke the line and was almost in for the score. Dromore were keeping the pressure on and a few delightful kicks behind the Carrick defensive line from Daniche at No.10 were causing problems, which led to Robin Cantley collecting a misfielded cross field kick to dive over in the corner.

Carrick scored again ending the game 29-5. Next week friendly away Randallstown.
