Young guns on target to pave the way for Sarsfields triumph

Goals from two of Sarsfields young guns Michael McKenna and Niall Kerr paved the way for the Trasna side’s 2 10 to 0 10 win over Whitecross last Sunday at Father Dan McGeown Park.

The Hoops have now won three of their last four game and put a recent disappointing result against Ballymacnab behind them to beat Crossmaglen away last Friday week.

Sarsfields mastered the slippery conditions better than their South Armagh opponents last Saturday night in a game which was keenly contested yet played in a sporting fashion.

Although Whitecross missed several clear cut chances in the game, they had fought their way back in to contention in the second half but McKenna’s goal, which was belted home from a difficult angle on the three quarter mark, gave the visitors an uphill battle.

Niall Kerr’s goal near the end gave the home side a deserved victory which will build their confidence for the visit of St Pats Cullyhanna at the weekend.

The Sarsfields have three of their best players out of the country at the moment, Richard Stevenson is currently living in Scotland, Chris McGaughey, who will be home in the summer, is currently studying in America and Armagh player Michael Stevenson is residing in Qatar.

The Trasna men will be keen to capitalise on a number of home games which are scheduled over the near future.
