Young swimmers enjoy Dublin experience

A team of four boys from Ballymoney Swimming Club travelled to Dublin National Aquatic Centre to compete in the Irish National Age Group Championships, a three day competition for Ireland's elite young swimmers.

Henry Traill, Andrew McLean, Stuart Laverty and Michael Evans took part in the freestyle and medley relay events in the 13-14 age category.

Although not placed, the boys put in great performances, producing personal best times. For two of them this was their first experience of the long course, 50 metre pool.

In his individual events, Michael produced excellent swims and claimed a bronze medal in both the 100m and 200m butterfly. This was a superb performance as he only just moved into the 13 year-old category some weeks earlier.

The boys all thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and are determined to return next year. They would like to take this opportunity to thank Ballymoney Swimming Club for their support, June Traill and Keith Ferguson for their coaching and the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney and Coleraine Leisure Centre for the pool time.
