Zanshin Shotokan Karate Club unveil new training aid

THE Zanshin Shotokan Karate Club has recently received Sports NI funding for the state of the art training apparatus - the BATAK PRO.

BATAK Pro is a piece of equipment specifically designed to improve reaction, hand eye co-ordination and stamina by enabling sportsmen and women to train under simulated 'sports like' conditions, whilst also providing an element of fun and competition that is so often lacking in training.

Some of the benefits include: improved reaction time; hand and eye co-ordination; boost stamina and fitness levels.

Manchester United, the Royal Navy and the British Association of Gymnastics are just some of the groups who have used the machine.

The Zanshin Shotokan Karate Club are holding Open Days for you to see exactly how the BATAK PRO works and how it will be implemented into karate training. It can be used in any sport and it is the first one of its kind in Northern Ireland.

Come and challenge the Northern Ireland Squad on the BATAK PRO at one the following Open Days: 1 May Dungiven Sports Pavilion, 12 noon to 1pm; 12 June The Diamond Centre, Coleraine, 11am to 4pm; 15 June Ballymoney High School; 19 June West Bann Community Centre, The Ropewalk, Coleraine 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

It is the club's aim to encourage families to participate in sport together through karate using the BATAK PRO. They are keen to encourage families to come along and as an incentive sons and daughters train for free when mother or father registers into the club and after 10 sessions they get a karate suit free!
