Zoe wins schools’ canoe championship

Lisburn girl Zoe Thompson, 12., won the Ulster School’s Canoe Championship recently after winning the 5K race at Newferry, Lower Bann.

Zoe’s award was presented to her at school (Hunterhouse) this week by headmaster Mr Andrew Gibson.

Zoe won gold in the under 12 category and took the overall championship. She is the youngest person ever to receive this prestigious award, being the 2nd girl to win it since it started in 1975.

Zoe is an active member of Lisburn City Paddlers and Belfast Canoe Club.

She paddles for the N. Ireland Slalom and Sprint squads winning many medals at races across the UK. She receives excellent tuition from her coaches and would like to thank them and Canoe Association NI for all their support.
