Lisburn's resident seal makes a return appearance in the Lagan.

Lagan weir gets a seal of approval

You see all sorts of things floating along in rivers these days but those unfamiliar with the periodic seal sightings in the River Lagan can be forgiven their surprise at spotting one of the marine mammals out for a leisurely swim. Visiting Dromore man Dean Banks and his cousin were out walking the dog when they spotted the seal - just visible in this still from video footage - only after the clearly curious dog pointed them in the right direction. Said Dean: We couldnt make out what it was at first - it was far too big to be an otter - but then we caught on what it was." When the walkers passed the same spot on their return trip, the seal was waiting. It might still be there, for all you know, said Dean, but it wouuldnt need to go too much farther or it might end up in the Mournes.
