Duke of Edinburgh’s Award NI partners with The OUTLET for first family fun day

THE Duke of Edinburgh Award NI is teaming up with The Outlet in Banbridge to host their first ever family fun day this Saturday, September 24.

From 10am until 5pm, there will be interactive Kids and Adventure zones where visitors, young and old, will be able to try a range of exciting activities.

For a £5 donation (£10 for over 16’s) to Duke of Edinburgh NI, a registered charity, kids can have their face painted, play on a bouncy castle, be entertained with displays of balloon modelling and enter a colouring competition at the Kids Zone or they can try their hand at archery and laser clay pigeon shooting and scale the heights on the mobile climbing tower at the Adventure Zone.

Registration will take place at The Outlet’s Welcome Centre, Unit 3 and at The Artlet where Duke of Edinburgh’s Award volunteers will also be on hand to answer any queries about the DofE.

All participants will have the opportunity to enter a free prize draw and avail of further discounts in selected stores at The Outlet.

Kate Thompson, Director of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award - NI said, “We are excited to be taking part in this family fun day at The Outlet. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gives young people from the ages of 14 to 25 the opportunity to experience new activities as well as develop existing skills.

“Families that come along and take part this Saturday will not only have fun themselves trying out new things but they will also help to support the work of the DofE in Northern Ireland. Through the money raised, we will be able to reach more young people and enable them to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, a great achievement for young people to work towards. We hope this event will be the first of many at The Outlet.”

Siobhan McKeown, Marketing Manager at The Outlet said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Duke of Edinburgh’s Award NI to create this event. Considering many of our retailers, such as Trespass, Regatta and Mountain Warehouse, have been supporting the DofE for many years, it is a natural fit for us to work together and add value to our customer experience.

“Those who want to shop can visit our many retail units and let the kids and partners go off and try more adventurous things like archery and climbing. We welcome all families to come along and make a day of it at The Outlet.”

Those already signed up to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award will receive extra discounts of up to 50%, making it a perfect time to purchase those necessities for upcoming expeditions.
