The singing Priests are nominated for top Classical BRIT award

THE singing Londonderry clergymen, better known as The Priests, are among the 10 contenders for the coveted Classic FM ‘Album of the year’ Award, which will be bestowed at the Classic Brit Awards next month.

Brothers Martin and Eugene O’Hagan, whose family members still live in the city, and and their childhood friend, David Delargy, will find out on May 12 whether or not they have won the accolade - just two days before they are due to headline at the re-opening of First Derry Presbyterian Church. The awards will take place at the Royal Albert Hall, and the event will be hosted by tv personality and pianist Myleene Klass.

The most sought after award of the night is the coveted Classic FM Album of the Year, which is voted by the British public via www.classicbrits.co.uk. The Classic FM Album of the Year is compiled from the 10 biggest selling classical albums of 2010.
