5. Glenariff Forest, Cargan
Known as the Queen of the Glens and one of the nine Glens in Northern Ireland, Glenariff Forest Park covers 1,000 hectares of lakes,woodland, trails and conservation areas. The park also has a picnic and barbecue area as well as a teahouse to finish your walk off on a nice note. Glenariff Forest Park is also a Natural Nature Reserve due to the richness of plant diversity in the area. Your dog will have lots to explore.

6. Slieve Gallion, Desertmartin
Slieve Gallion is located in Desertmartin, roughly eight kilometres outside Magherafelt. This walk will lead you and your poochy friend through Iniscarn Forest and across the two summits of Slieve Gallion for some fantastic views across this beautiful AONB. This is an intermediate level walk and is slightly longer than most typical walks so bring your hiking boots.

7. Dunseverick Castle & Causeway Coast
Dunseverick Castle is the perfect place to walk and features both fantastic views of the Causeway Coast and historical monuments. Throughout the walk, you will pass Dunseverick Castle, along many coastal views, past The Organ, Giant’s Boot and Giant’s Gate before experiencing the Giant’s Causeway. Keep in mind that this is a one-way trail so you will either need to arrange a lift at the end or walk back.

8. Hillsborough Forest Park Lake Walk, Hillsborough
Hillsborough Forest Park is child-friendly and dog-friendly and has hiking trails as well. This walk is considered shorter than most and takes around one hour to complete and is mostly flat land, allowing people of any age or fitness level.
