Causeway artists Wildlife Exhibition in Portballintrae

The opening of the Causeway Coast Artists first Wildlife Exhibition along with the National Trust Friends of White Park Bay proved a great success.

Julian Friers, the internationally acclaimed wildlife artist opened the exhibition to a packed hall of guests at the wine and cheese reception in Portballintrae Village Hall.

“We have been extremely lucky that Julian Friers agreed to open our exhibition.

“He is a former President of the Royal Ulster Academy and his work has been exhibited all over the world and features in many prestigious collections.” said Carol Hutton, Chairperson CCA.

“This Wildlife Exhibition is a new venture for CCA. And the response from artists to exhibit work has been wonderful.

“We are already looking forward to our next two events, a Craft Fair on 16th August and the big annual Art Sale on August 23-25,” said Suzanne Mortimer, Treasurer CCA.

The Friends of White Park Bay with the National Trust put on a display celebrating the biodiversity of White Park Bay focussing on their work on butterflies.

“The National Trust is keen to explain the conservation methods they have adopted to protect plantlife and wildlife in the dunes” said Jimmy Milliken from National Trust.

The Causeway Coast Artists are a co-operative, a non-profit making organisation run by volunteers whose aim is to showcase the creative talent of those living or inspired by the Causeway coast.

They have been going for one and a half years and are continuing to attract artists, crafts people, jewellers and photographers as new members.
