Charities benefit from ‘Fading Memories’ book

Last week, Robert handed over cheques to the ‘Caring Caretaker’, David Boyle and Derek Scott of Agherton Parish Church.

Launched just over a year ago at Coleraine Town Hall, the third volume in the ‘Fading Memories’ series was printed by Impact Printing.

The book, filled with old pictures from across the Borough, was printed to Impact’s usual high standard. It proved to be a big hit with book lovers locally and ex pats around the world.

With support from local book sellers and good reviews, the book became a best seller and has now sold out, becoming a collector’s item at the same time.

Last week, Robert presented cheques of £1500 to the Building Fund of Agherton Parish Church as a token of thanks for the support provided by the Church following a bereavement. The Caring Caretaker, Davy Boyle’s charities also benefited.

Speaking at the event, Robert said: “I consider Davy a friend and have admired his commitment, even during bouts of illness, to helping others.”

Thanking those who had helped him with the book, Robert added: “This has only been possible through the support of publishers, book retailers, the local press, the Church Committee and other individuals.

“Thank you all for your help and support.”

Coleraine Times Editor, David Rankin, who supplied some of the photographs for the third volume of Robert’s book added: “I was delighted to be asked to the official launch of the book in Coleraine Town Hall.

“The book contained many marvellous images of the Borough and we were only to delighted to be asked to contribute photographs for the latest volume in an incredibly popular series of books.

“Congratulations to Robert and the publishers, and many thanks to all who bought the book.”
