Choristers praised for Operatic success

THE Dean of St Columb’s Cathedral has paid tribute to the Choristers and adult members of the male choir in St Columb’s Cathedral following their appearance in the Opera Tosca during the weekend.

The boys were given the morning off and did not turn out for the Family Service at 10am, as they had taken part in the final show on Saturday night.

During the Sunday services in the Cathedral the Very Rev Dr William Morton said he wanted to congratulate the Boy Choristers for their input into the overall success of the performances, and congratulated them on how well they had performed.

He went on to tell the congregations that the Choristers would be working hard on Monday, Tuesday and today, Wednesday, in the evenings, when they would be at the Cathedral recording material for the forthcoming CD celebrating the works of Cecil Frances Alexander, wife of the Bishop Alexander, and a famous writer of children’s hymns.

The Dean went on to congratulate and pay tribute to the Cathedral’s Choirmaster and organist, Ian Mills, for all his hard work and creativity in preparing the Choristers and for his enthusiasm in discharging his duties.
