Festive celebrations at the Millbrook Lodge

JOHN McNicholl may be rapidly gaining in status as a song-writer but it’s as a country star that he will prove the big attraction at the Millbrook Lodge Hotel, Ballynahinch on Saturday night.

Along with his band, he will be appearing at one of a series of festive dances at the popular venue.

And while John’s song-writing is providing him with a new string to his bow, it’s his dancing programme that is continuing to woo his followers.

“I have written a few songs but obviously my main thrust is on dancing. That’s our bread and butter. We are looking forward to playing in the Millbrook Lodge Hotel on Saturday at what should be a great Christmas dance,” says John.

Ironically, John’s most recent hit ‘Come on dance’ has given him a tremendous fillip as has the success of his recent DVD which was filmed in Letterkenny.

“We are getting great reaction to ‘Come on dance’ and we are delighted about that,” said John.

On Boxing Night (Wednesday December 26), Declan Nerney and his band will be on stage in the Millbrook for what promises to be a very special occasion.

Declan performed there during the summer and attracted a huge crowd and now he is hoping that his fans will be out in force again.

“It’s great to be going back to the Millbrook again. We have had some memorable nights there and we’re hoping to make Boxing Night extra-special,” said Declan.

Then on Friday December 28 Derek Ryan and his band will be the big attraction at the Millbrook and the blond-haired Carlow singer needs no introduction to dancers in the area.

He is playing to capacity crowds everywhere and just keeps on churning out hit records the most recent of which was the up tempo ‘It’s Friday’.

On New Year’s Eve night Hugo Duncan will headline a gala ball which should see a capacity crowd at the Millbrook.

Country Harmony, Kenny Archer and Boxcar Brian are all on the bill for what promises to be an entertainment extravaganza.

Hugo is still enjoying huge popularity and will bring his own special brand of vitality and professionalism to the Millbrook stage.

The show will encompass all that is best in country music and will certainly help to bring the curtain down on 2012 in spectacular style.
