Let’s Sing Gospel to aidcharities

As in previous years, Jonny Boyd has chosen quality musicians to back the choir.

He will play keys with Jack Owens on bass, Andrew Lee on lead guitar and Nigel Dooey on drums.

Joining them this year will be Adrian Millar and Alan Goodman on trumpet, Philip McGavock on Trombone and Jonny Campbell-Smyth and Peter McIlreavey on sax.

Jonny and Tony Morrison have trained the choir which will be in its fourth year of performances and this year promises to better the previous concerts with songs that are full of harmony, movement and heartfelt praise.

There will also be opportunity for the audiences to join the choir and band in singing well known praise songs.

The choir committee believe that if people are going to donate their hard earned cash to good causes they should be offered something in return and what better way to do that than offer an event of quality music and praise to local people who enjoy music.

Since its formation four year ago the choir has grown to 120 voices and this year will be accompanied once again by Barazina Children’s Choir and Singazina, a new Youth Choir formed recently by Denise Rosborough who is well known for her work with Barazina and who will be debuting at the Drumreagh event.

The three charities which will benefit from the concerts - Drumreagh Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 16 and Portstewart Baptist on Saturday, January 24 - are Cheers, Ballymoney, The Smiles Foundation and the Tearfund.

The work of Cheers has been ongoing in Ballymoney town centre for the past twenty three years offering a safe place for young people to socialise and to participate in projects that widen their perspective on life.

The Smiles Foundation is a Christian charity working in Romania with disadvantaged children while the charity Tearfund’s current focus is to tackle the issue of child trafficking.
