Odhran’s wish comes true

Little Odhran Gallagher has had his dream come true as he is jetting off to Disneyland Paris thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation.

The four-year-old Lurgan boy is really excited about the trip and very eager to meet Mickey Mouse and the whole gang.

Odhran, who was born with a congenital heart defect, defied the odds by surviving brain trauma and operations which have left him with disabilities.

But despite everything he has battled on with a smile on his face and is beginning to get back on his feet with the help of a special new walker.

Odhran’s mum Charlene Edwards said she was very surprised when she opened a letter from the Make A Wish Foundation as she had no idea Odhran had been nominated for the trip of a lifetime.

It turns out it was the family’s health visitor who nominated Odhran. Now he is set for Disneyland in Paris to meet his favourite cartoon characters for three days in December. “He is so excited. He just keeps shouting Disneyland and Mickey Mouse,” said Charlene. Both she and grandma Caroline are going with Odhran for the all-expenses paid trip.

“We are like two big children,” said Charlene. “I just couldn’t believe it when we got the letter last month. Someone from the Make a Wish Foundation came out to see him to see what he would like to do. When he found out about Disneyland he was just so excited.”

Charlene said she was overwhelmed by the Make a Wish Foundation. “They have been so good about everything.”
