Side-splitting September

The Playhouse Big Tickle comedy festival is back with another side splitting September of folly, farce and fun.

An exceptional new line-up of comedians and comedy events was announced this week at the launch of the much loved annual festival.

Shappi Khorsandi, Colin Murphy, Hardeep Singh Kohli, and Seann Walsh are just some of the comedians tickling funny bones from The Playhouse stage for the festival.

An almost permanent fixture on Irish television for the last decade, premier Northern Irish comedian Colin Murphy will start the comedy rolling with his special blend of satire, observational comedy and razor sharp wit on Friday September 7.

Star of Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and Have I Got News for You, much loved Iranian-born British comedian Shappi Khorsandi will then come to The playhouse on Saturday September 15, with her brand new show, Dirty Looks And Hopscotch.

Rising comedy star Seann Walsh will then presents an all-new hour of razor-sharp observational comedy at his first ever Big Tickle on Thursday September 20. Broadcaster, writer and Celebrity Masterchef finalist Hardeep Singh Kohli will then bring his mission to find the best Indian takeaway to The Big Tickle on Friday September 28. In an extremely unique show, Hardeep will order a local takeaway live on stage for delivery to the theatre from audience suggestions submitted via HardeepLive.com. He will then race to cook his own sumptuous feast before the takeaway arrives.

Borderline Players will then present their farce Cash on Delivery at The Playhouse on Saturday September 29, a hilarious comedy in two acts by Michael Cooney, son of the legendary farce master Ray Cooney. Join the Pettigo based group for an unforgettable comedy that slowly turns increasingly more ridiculous and bizarre.

The White Horse Hotel will also be getting in with the act with Robert Ramsey, who will bring stand up comedy and Play Your Cards Right to their 68 Clooney Bar on Saturday, September 1.

“One of our favourite times of year since it started in 2004, The Big Tickle has showcased the biggest and best local and international comedy acts. But what makes this year’s line up particularly special is how many much loved comedians we have on the bill who will be experiencing the fun of The Big Tickle for the first time,” Niall McCaughan at The Playhouse said.

“Tickets always go fast for The Big Tickle so book now to make sure you and your friends don’t miss out on any of the fun.”
