Mallusk Enterprise Park tenants discuss business with MP

Tenants at Mallusk Enterprise Park met with South Antrim MP Danny Kinahan last week to discuss key issues affecting the local business community.

Also in attendance at the informal lunch event were Mallusk Enterprise Park (MEP) staff and several local councillors.

“Mallusk Enterprise Park is a superb example of small businesses feeding directly back into the community,” Mr Kinahan said. “Events like these are truly invaluable for my work as an MP, and being able to discuss issues with the tenants at the enterprise park has been a positive experience.”

As part of his visit to the local enterprise agency, the UUP man also met with staff from Cancer Focus NI to learn more about the vital services they provide in the community.

The Cancer Focus NI Keeping Well van was on site providing free health checks for local business owners.

MEP recently raised money through a coffee morning to fund the visit of Cancer Focus NI’s mobile unit.

Research has shown that business owners often neglect their own health and wellbeing, and Mallusk Enterprise, in conjunction with Cancer Focus NI, offered free health checks to all their tenants and employees.

“Our small business community is vital to our local economic development and job creation,” explained MEP chief executive Melanie Humphrey. “We are delighted to work with Cancer Focus NI and other charities to help promote a healthy lifestyle and ensure we are all fit for business.”

Chair of MEP, Cllr Noreen McClelland added: “We are excited that we can offer such a valuable service to our local businesses and an added bonus is that we can demonstrate to our local MP the extent of the support services we offer to our businesses to help them grow and create more local jobs. We are also delighted that some of our tenant companies spared the time to have a lunch with us and we discussed many issues and challenges that face our businesses on a day to day basis. Politicians and businesses exchanging views is a very positive and beneficial initiative and we thank Danny for his visit and that he took the time to come along to hear about all the support we give to our local business community.”
