NIAC announced the province’s Best Kept Schools at an event on June 7.

Almost two hundred schools across Northern Ireland entered the awards this year and NIAC judges have been on the road inspecting them since March, to find the cleanest, tidiest and most environmentally active schools. Winning schools include those with anti-litter campaigns, wildlife planting schemes and recycling projects.

NIAC President Doreen Muskett MBE commented; “The SuperValu Best Kept School Awards were established as a way of encouraging young people to develop an interest in their school grounds and the environment generally. Every year our judges are impressed by the work being done at hundreds of schools across Northern Ireland and we recognise the cleanest and greenest ones with awards.

“As part of the judging process we look for evidence of pupil participation in environmental projects, and of course clean and tidy school grounds. Ballymoney Nursery School is a shining example in all of these areas.”
